UNEXPECTED DELAYS WITH PRODUCTS

March Kits : It would seem that 2012 is going to be known as theyear of delays! Our shipment with the products for the March kit is beingheld up at SA Customs for the last 10 days and at this stage there is no end insight! We are really unsure of when the government will finally releasethis shipment and we will be able to finish packing your kits for March.

So, please bear with us, as soon as we have theproducts, believe me your kits will be on their way.

School Kits : When Sweet M designed the beautiful School Kit for us,she got the papers from the NEW section of her local scrapbook shop. However, now that Nutty M has gone to purchase the papers from our USAsupplier, we discovered that it is an old range that has beendiscontinued! Can you believe it (Australia is really backwards, hey!lol)?

So we are short of one of the papers needed for thekits but Sweet M and Nutty M are cruising ALL the online Scrapbook sites andslowly gathering whatever papers we can find for the kit. This hasresulted in a bit of a delay on the School kits.

LAYOUT 1: GENUINE

Time to get down and grungy.. this layout is so fun!

In shades of yellow and blue, this layout is perfect for any photos youmight have.

Think Denims, sunny days, the beach, families, Most photos will work forthese colors.

Including some funky wooden flowers, you are sure to love this kit.

You will have a set of letters in your kits to create your own title aswell.

LAYOUT 2: TRAVEL THROUGH THE PAGES OF TIME

Using Paper Loft, this layout is sure to transport you back to a time ofelegance and old style classics.

In shades of Browns, greens and light yellows, you will create flowersout of zippers, learn how to create 3DJournal Books on your layout and more.

If you don’t have heritage photos, this will work just as well withphotos of you or your own children / family as kids.

Time after all is endless. We can go back as far or as little aswe wish.

Normal monthly rate of R290 + postage will apply for above kits.

ONCE OFF {SCHOOL OF LIFE} KIT

As we know a lot of you do NOT have school kids or school photos to scrap, we have not included a School layout in our Monthly kits this year.. HOWEVER, we also know that a lot of you DO have school kids and school photos.. so... bearing this in mind.. Sweet M has decided to create an extra double page layout just for you school mommies out there..

This layout is on order only and we will only be packing a small amount.. so if you would like to order, please remember to do so by contacting Michele (aka Nutty M) at info@thevillagescrapper.co.za as soon as possible to secure yours.

Price for the double page layout is R160-00 excluding delivery, but you can save on this if we deliver this kit with your March order.

SCRAPAHOLIC RETREAT

Ok ladies… You have all been asking for it.. here we go.. (drum rollplease…)

Dates have been confirmed for our Annual ScrapbookingRetreat…These are from Thursday the 9th August (evening start, arrive any timeafter lunch) and depart on Sunday 12th August before lunch. This meansyou will have 3 nights and 2 ½+ days of scrapping, cropping and enjoying “timeout” to feed your addiction.

VENUE:

Olifants River Lodge is situated between Middelburgand Witbank on the banks of the Great Olifants River, one and a half hours'drive from Pretoria and OR Tambo International Airport and less than two hours'drive from Nelspruit and Kruger National Park.

A stretch of secondary road over a koppie, descendinginto the valley below, gives you a glimpse of the breathtaking location of theLodge. Set in the heart of Mpumalanga - S.A's cultural homeland - The OlifantsRiver Lodge illustrates our rich heritage in terms of our beautiful landscapes.

CAMP CROP (MARCH 2011) LAYOUT

This is a special post for all the ladies who attended Camp Crop last year.

I used this weeks sketch from Let's Scrap ...

I have had these photos since last March when I taught at my last Scrapbooking Retreat.. was the weekend I found out that I was moving to Australia.. bittersweet memories.. was a fun Retreat though..

As you can see, I amended the sketch a bit to fit all my photos in.

Papers used:

Kaisercraft Flutterby collection and an old sheet of Basic Grey. All butterflies cut from paper.

Close up left and right pages:

I also used Pink Dimensional Glaze and made my own half pearls which I adhered to my butterflies and journalling tag.

The title was precut for our Retreat and I covered it in Dimensional Glaze as well...

This double page spread includes threading techniques and a super cool Maze Booklet for all your extra photos that you have lying around each Christmas.

BONUS PROJECTS
This month you will have enough papers left over to create 2 extra projects.. YES you heard right.. 2 extra projects.. a Christmas Card and a cute Christmas hanging tree.. this is really cool to make as a gift for a loved one.. We hope you enjoy these extras as our gift to you !

LAYOUT 2: FUN IN THE SUN

Our second layout is a fun holiday / beach double page spread with lots of room for your own personalisation of the page, thanks to an awesome sticker sheet that we have included in the pack.

You will create a cute mini booklet as well for all those extra photos and add a dash of corrugated board to bring in the outdoors..

NOTE: We have to apologize as we struggled to find some of the product we needed locally and have had to order it in from the States.
Depending how long it takes to arrive, the December kits may only be ready in the 1st week of December.

A very big Thank you to the ladies who took the time to comment back on our short questionnaire last month regarding our kits. We appreciate the time taken to give us your thoughts. In response to this, we will be doing the following in 2012:

KITS:
From next year we will be trying to incorporate a little extra into the kits in the form of ideas, mini projects, etc so that you keep your love of Scrapping alive.

PRODUCT RANGE:
We try and source the latest and best products for you.. so if you see something new and exciting that you want us to use.. please let us know. In addition, we are all feeling the pinch on our pockets, so we really do try not to make the kits too expensive and rather teach you to make your own embellishments. We will endeavor to have at least a couple of kits next year using new and exciting embellishments to add the glitz and glamour.

LAYOUT SUGGESTIONS:
We will be doing more adult and teenage themed layouts (e.g. weddings, holidays, love, friends, pets etc..). It is very difficult to please everyone, but we will try our best to cover as wide a range as possible.

GUEST DESIGNERS:
Although we are M&M, there are a lot of talented designers out there and I know that some of you would love to do other “styles” of layouts, so we will be trying every now and then to get a guest designer or two to help us design layouts to give you a bit of variety. If any of you out there are dying (or even moderately keen) to design a layout for us, drop us a line and we'll make use of your talents.

As 2011 draws to a close, we want to send a heartfelt, big thank you to all the ladies who have supported our kits and enjoyed putting them together every month. Your enthusiasm and delight really keeps us motivated and inspired. Both of us are so looking forward to 2012, and based on the feedback we have received, making your kits bigger and better. We are also delighted to tell you that there will be NO price increase for 2012, you will still get your kits, and extra's, for the same amazing price as in 2011.

So, now is as good a time as any to book your kits for next year. Ok, I am biased, but I just Love how this layout came out.. it is perfect for either those fun boy pics you have or even can be used for general family fun pics ! The kit comes with a full set of stickers too to add to your layout, so if you don’t like the title, feel free to adapt it as you see necessary. Using lots of planets and arrows, this layout is seriously fun !

LAYOUT 2: HAPPINESS IS HOMEGROWN

This month, in celebration of HALLOWEEN we are doing two really cute and fun double layouts. These are not limited to Halloween photos though and can be used for any of those special moments in your life.

LAYOUT 1: FAIRY TALES DO COME TRUE
Using the soft and beautiful paper created by Pebbles Inc. this layout is perfect for any little girl dressed up in her “princess costume” or “fairy costume”.. or alternatively it can also be used for any lovely LOVE photos that you have of you and your partner or even with your kids.. the title can be changed to suit your photos. It has lots of pearls and is a pretty whimsical layout you are sure to love, with an interactive castle booklet for extra photos. (Just to let you think out the box, I am going to use my new home photos on this layout.. as Fairy Tales do come true and I am in my new Castle.. LOL).

THE AMAZING SCRAPBOOKING RACE

Well the weekend at Out of Africa Village was incredibly fun – no thanks to the venue or the managers of the venue unfortunately. However, like true Scrapbookers, the ladies ignored the unpleasantries and just kicked back, scrapped up a storm and shot the breeze with their long long pals. It was a lot of fun.

At least the girls found lots of time to Party as is the norm...

But they also worked very hard at creating beautiful masterpieces..

The FANCY DRESS evening is tradition at our events, and the ladies once again went all out.. we had visitors from England, Switzerland, Mexico, to name but a few..

Another tradition is to hand out certificates to the worthy ladies after the weekend. This is so much fun and the girls love it...

Thanks ladies for joining us and making it another great Event.

Wow, once again we are upping our order.
We are so glad that you ladies are loving our kits, and we are really proud to provide you with two awesome, all new, special double layouts each month!

M&M CAMP CROP FEEDBACK

Wow, what a fun weekend !!

16 scrap-a-holics + 2 teachers (Nutty and Sweet) all departed from various corners of Gauteng and headed towards Hartebeestpoort Dam on Friday the 18th of March. Everyone unpacked and settled in around the pool for a quick drink and get to know each other before we started.

After supper, the girls all created their first layout "HOME is where you are" and just when they thought they were done, the fun began.

All the SCOUTS had to draw a bracelet out of a container with a charm on. There were 4 different charms and the girls were placed into 4 different teams (of 4 each). They were to work together during the weekend in SCOUT CHALLENGES for prizes and the chance to win more charms.

By the end of the weekend, the girls were all best friends and everyone (who had won charms for every layout completed, prize won or challenge one) each had a FULL bracelet full of the applicable charms to remember their fun weekend.

The first challenge placed the girls in teams at seperate tables. They were each handed a packet with lots of weird scrapbooking stuff. (paper, doileys, puzzle pieces, ribbons, buttons, etc etc) and they had to create a layout. Only one lady was allowed to work on the project at a time. They had 5 minutes to think about what they were going to do and then the race was on...

The whistle blew and the first lady had to create on the layout (no-one else was allowed to touch it). After 5 minutes the whistle went again and the project was handed to the next lady... this went on for 40 minutes... the ladies done so well and each girl had 2 turns to add to the single layout.

You cannot believe what the created in such a short space of time ! WOW !!

The other teams were just as happy with their end results though (they were stunning everyone and it was really hard to judge them !)..

The next day kicked off with LOTS of scrapping.. the ladies completed 2 double layouts. That night was open scrap and a lot of ladies only finished scrapping after 2 am !! LOL

Our second challenge for the girls was SCRAP TREASURE HUNT. They were placed in teams again and had to (at the blow of the whistle) run and find a selected number of items (as given to them). This was fun and the girls were ripping off bras to get the items done (one item was a black bra.. LOL).

The girls hectically working through their lists to find the items:

The GUINNEA FOWLS once again took this challenge... !

The next day was a bit quieter to start off with a double and single pages being taught. That afternoon the ladies once again got together in teams for the ultimate challenge: SCRAP OLYMPICS.

Each team work station was set up with equipment and the same pack of Scrapping goodies. The ladies had to line up in row and each was allocated 2 tasks to do on the project. At the blow of the whistle the first lady had to run and complete her task (e.g. ink the paper).. then she had to run back outside, tag her fellow team member and they had to run into the room and do the next task (e.g. stick photo onto the page)...

This was so much fun to watch, the ladies were shaking they were so frantic.. LOL...

The DRAGON FLIES (seen flying in and out above) were our winning team... !!!

That evening was our CAMP SCOUTS evening with the final challenge and prize giving.

We had our EXCHANGE SCOUT from Holland, our WASHED AWAY SCOUT

and our really GOOD SCOUTS:

The REBEL SCOUTS (take no kak, take no prisoners).. LOL

The girls were asked to vote for each other and certificates were handed out.. There was the SMILE scout, SLUR HIC scout, PARTY scout amongst others..

The SCRAP DIVA had to go to Claudette.. she finished about 6 more layouts during the weekend and was given the honor of the Scrap Room key as she spent more time there than anyone else !

Our final CHALLENGE for the girls was a TRIVIAL PURSUIT evening... with lots of questionaires for them to answer. There was a Logo Challenge, General Knowledge, Do you know David (all pictures of David's) and a Scrapping Word Search.

This was about the only time the girls were dead quiet over the weekend.. they were so busy concentrating and not wanting the other teams to hear their answers.. was so cool !

Every event has to sadly come to an end, and yesterday all us girls had a quick layout to do and then it was time to wave a fond farewell to all the newly made friends.

Thank you ladies formaking our March retreat such a success. We hope you all had as much fun as we did with you !

Welcome to the M&M Scrapbooking Adventures first official newsletter. We will be sending these out once a month and hope that you enjoy them. If you don’t want to be on our mailing list, please let me know so I can remove you from the list. If you do like it, please share the love and forward to all your scrapping buddies.

As you are aware, Nutty M (Michele Eriksen) and myself Sweet M (Michelle van Wyk) started up M&M Scrapbooking Adventures in 2009 with our very first Scrapbook Weekend Retreat held at Wakkerstroom Country Inn. Since then we have hosted several retreats and day functions with great success. Due to the overwhelming response, this year we decided to host 2 Scrapbooking Retreats (details below).

A very big THANK YOU to all our loyal supporters, without you M&M Scrapbooking Adventures wouldn’t be such a great success.

Our first Scrapbook Retreat of the year is our CAMP CROP weekend, being held from 18-21 March 2011 at Stonemountain Lodge at Hartebeespoort Dam. The venue is beautiful and the conference room has a huge big window overlooking the dam. I think we might have a problem getting the girls to concentrate on pages as they will be too busy looking out the window.

All our stock has arrived from the States and Australia and the kits have been packed, sponsors for prizes have been sourced, challenges and games have been finalised, and giveaways and goodies are all ready in boxes just waiting to find some new homes.

The weekend is going to be so much fun and the theme is SCRAP SCOUTS.. the girls will be earning their “SCOUT” points throughout the weekend and will be challenged both mentally and physically (scrap wise). Lots of prizes up for grabs.

We were even able to throw in an extra layout.. so 6 projects for the weekend:

M&M MONTHLY KIT CLUB

Our KIT Club was started in January this year and we have already doubled the number of kits we are packing from January to now. THANK you very much for all your support. We have had the most phenomenal feedback from everyone and are so happy to see that everyone is loving the kits. We are constantly looking around to source the latest and greatest of the new ranges out there for you to play with. This does mean, that sometimes there may be a delay in receiving the products from the States and Mitch & I scramble to produce the kits, pack them and get them to you on time.

Remember that Kits are packed and posted / delivered during the FIRST week of the new month. So, if you have ordered a MARCH kit, this is ready for collection / delivery this week, provided payment confirmation has been received by Mitch.

UNFORTUNATELY March kits are sold out already but remember that APRIL kits are now open for bookings.

NOTE: You can pre-book your kits by indicating on the order form that you want for 3/6/9 months, etc. You do not have to pay for them all upfront, you only pay on a month to month basis. This just helps to secure your kit and helps us make sure we bring in enough products first time.

Saturday dawned bright and early, with the sun shining down beautifully for us.

15 girls all gathered together to enjoy a day of Scrapbooking and Pampering.. what more could anyone ask for?

Chicama Country Spa at Glenburn Lodge was our destination:

Getting to scrap in these beautiful surroundings.. wow !
The Zen music playing and the sound of the water trickling behind you as you scrap.
The girls had a great time and finished a double and a single layout on the day.

After being treated to breakfast, snacks and lunch the ladies were then treated to 2 wonderful spa treatments. They were all relaxed after that and we ended off our day with Cheese and Wine.

Wow, less than 10 days to go our next event...

We will be completing a double layout AND a single layout in the morning:

For our double layout, we will be using the BO BUNNY CAMBRIDGE COLLECTION:

This layout can be used for any photos that go with the TITLE – “DARE TO DREAM” (maybe those bungee jumping photos you have, the pics where you finally decided to start studying again and graduated, where you decided to start a new job.. anything goes !)

HOWEVER, please note that due to time constraints, I seriously doubt that we will get time to put photos on, so please don’t worry about them now.. Just come along, enjoy the layout and once you are finished, you can decide what photos will be perfect for the page.. or go out, do something daring and take some new photos !

SURVIVOR WEEKEND FEEDBACK

Well we “SURVIVED” the weekend… LOL .. we managed to OUTCROP, OUTBLING and OUTSCRAP the competition.

35 girls all arrived on a lovely Friday afternoon at DINONYANE LODGE in Nylsvley. We had a super weekend scrapping, playing games and being challenged as teams to outscrap each other.

The girls really bonded so well and had loads of fun !

On Friday night we put the ladies into different teams and they had to present their flags, team name and war cry to the Judges the next morning.

The PURPLE TURTLES won hands down with their unique little “skilpad” who joined their team.. LOL! Everyone was so creative though and the flags were stunning !

Saturday saw the girls doing 2 awesome double layouts and 2 survivor challenges.. SURVIVOR Scavenger Hunt during the day and SURVIVOR 30 seconds in the evening.

After that was chill time and while some girls partied, others went back to SCRAPBOOK ISLAND and scrapped until 2 in the morning… This year 80% of the girls finished their projects AND had time to put on their photos ! We are so PROUD of you all.. that hardly EVER happens…

Sunday dawned with hangovers and tired teachers and students.. LOL! However with our Grunge layout ahead, they donned their APRONS, gloves and got ready to get down and dirty !! That evening was TRIBAL COUNCIL... teams were awarded certificates, trophies and prizes
for their team work and individual prizes...

One of our best dressed couples: Michelle and Adrie and some of our amazing Cocktails that the teams presented as one of their Challenges..

Our coveted GOLDEN SCISSORS trophy (and certificates) were awarded to the PINK FLAMINGO’s for scoring the most points over the weekend and they all took home the title of SCRAPVIVOR 2010 ! Well done ladies.

Monday was sad as we done a quick layout and then all packed up and came home.

The girls were showered with gifts the whole weekend long. Daily presents were handed out (Scrapping DIVA aprons, dirt bins, tool bags, slippers/towels, etc etc) spot prizes were handed to each girl every day and other luck ladies still got game prizes and Survivor prizes. We also raffled a SIZZIX (won by Marissa .. well done ).
